The Simple Woman's Daybook ~ 9 February

FOR TODAY 9 February 2009...

Outside my window... Kyle is happily digging in the garden. He loves playing in the dirt and could happily spend many hours in the dirt with a gardening fork and his truck and front end loader.

I am thinking... how lucky we are to have so many people step forward to help out others in their time of need. The emergency services and the many volunteers do a truly marvelous job with all the long hours they do to help out when ever and where ever needed. Here in Australia the flooding in the North and the fire, death and devastation in the South is unbelievable. It is amazing how a community pulls together to help each other and see that everyone is cared for.

I am thankful for... my OH having a full time job providing a regular pay check. So many people are either having their hours reduced or finding out they are no longer required and left without a job. There are lots of uncertain times ahead right now.

From the kitchen... in the crockpot cooking are some lamb shanks and potatoes which will be for dinner tonight along with some green beans.

I am wearing... a navy t-shirt and 3/4 black pants.

I am creating... a new pile of goodies to be given away on Freecycle.

I am going... to have to catch up online with what is discussed at the Aspergers workshop which are on Tuesday and Wednesday since I will be unable to attend due to not having a babysitter for Kyle.

I am reading... The Shack by WM. Paul Young. I have seen this book mentioned many times online so was keen to read it and found out exactly what it is all about. Have had this book reserved at the library and there has been quite a long waiting list and finally it is my turn to get the chance to read this book.

I am hoping... the worst of the flooding and fires are now over and everyone involved can begin the long process of being able to rebuild their lives.

I am hearing... my washing maching hard at work. Lots of wshing to get done today. Lovely fine day to get all the bedding washed and dried. Great with the hot sun that it doesn't take long for the duvets to dry.

Around the house... I have had to totally empty Zachary's wardrobe and reorganise it all. He has a bad habit of just throwing everything in and piling stuff up on top of one another and then wonders why he can never seem to find anything. He loves everything to be nice and tidy but just can't seem to keep it that way himself.

One of my favorite things... is a mug of hot chocolate to start the day.

A few plans for the rest of the week... a trip to the library, monthly Aspergers support meeting and possibly a trip into the city.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Kyle was feeling very miserable last week. Not like him to be lacking in energy and lose his get up and go. Took him to the doctor and was just told that he had a virus and there there is nothing to be given for a virus so just had to wait for the bug to work its way out of his system.
